Limit the Number of Votes for Users
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 10:21. New
In order to allow a better priorisation in a closed community it is better to limit the number of votes each user has, so she really picks only the most important problems. It would also be good to be able to add 1-3 votes per user.

Solution #1: Give Users a Vote budget
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 10:21.
Each user can optionally be limited by a group setting to number of votes she has available. She can always remove votes from one idea to move them to others, or she gets them back once an idea is implemented. It is good to give 1-3 votes to an idea. A method to granting bonus votes to users is also a needed addition.

This can also be used to limit suggestions a user can make, if he always has to give at least one vote to his own initial ideas.

Solution #2: Solution #1, but you vote for a problem, not a solution
Written by tehalynn the 22 Nov 09 at 23:15.
This may be what solution #1 was saying; it wasn't entirely clear to me.

Give users "priority votes" or something that they can use to say which problem they think is the highest priority. Each user has a limited number of priority votes as in solution #1. These votes are different from the unlimited votes you can make on solutions.

Reuse Search Title
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 10:15. New
In the "Search duplicate" step you have to type a title and then if no match is found, you have to type it again.

Competitors use the given title and you can change it on create step.

Voting on an Idea is not the best way to Rank problems
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 10:13. New
Since a user can only vote on Ideas, he cannot make a problem (with no good solution) obvious. Also requiring the submitter to specify an idea is somewhat a showstopper.

Solution #1: Vote on Problems
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 10:13.
I would suggest users can vote on the missing features/rationales independend from the Solution _and_ if a user only votes on a solution it is also a vote for the problem. This way a rational with 1 Ideas (each 10 votes) has at least 20 votes in comparision to other rationales with 1 idea and 15 votes.

Idea Notifications
Written by peterro the 13 Apr 09 at 20:51. New
With our use model, the moderators who will be watching their assigned categories are likely not familiar with RSS subscriptions. Explaining how RSS works generates blank stares.

Solution #1: Email Notifications
Written by peterro the 13 Apr 09 at 20:51.
I'd like to have the ability to configure notifications for new and/or changed ideas to be sent to assigned email addresses. Even something as simple as a note that says you have new ideas to moderate.

I'd like it to be a list so that multiple addresses can be used for any individual category. Each category would be configured individually. The current configuration should be displayed on the category page so it is easy to spot (on one page) any categories that are/aren't configured correctly.

It might also be useful to have a configuration in much the same way that would cover all new/changed submissions. Of course you'd want this to be optional.

I think RSS by default and email optional.

Solution #2: Poster notifications
Written by peterro the 2 Jun 09 at 19:44.
Much like notifications for category subscribers, a user notification for changes to ideas they've submitted or updates to ideas where they've commented. This would be much like email notifications to forum posts that I've received in the past.

The message would say something like 'there have been comments or new solutions posted to your idea, you won't receive any further notifications until you review the current updates'.

The users of our environment likely won't be closely following ideas through their life cycle, but would want to be notified when there are updates.

This should be configurable per user.

Solution #3: Favorites for Categories
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 10:08.
You could allow E-Mail notifications for changes to Favorites (starred) entries. If you then add the ability to star categories, the email notes will come in automatically. (Some filtering is probably needed)
